Benefits of Air Source Heat Pumps
Lower Energy Bills
Minimal Maintenance
More Efficient Form Of Fuel
Air source heat pumps are an efficient renewable alternative to gas heating systems.
The air source heat pumps extract heat from the air and transfer this into the properties heating system. This is then used to heat water, radiators and underfloor heating.
Air source heat pumps will save you money on your energy bills, reduce your carbon footprint and require very little maintenance. As well as air source heat pumps we all install ground source heat pumps.

How Do Heat Pumps Work?
Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air. Very cold gas is pumped out, and the heat from outside is then absorbed – even on cold days.
The gas is then compressed, which turns the small amount of heat into much higher temperatures. The heat is then used to heat your radiators, hot water and underfloor heating system.
The heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from the inside. In the same way a refrigerator works, the heat pump takes heat from the air and puts it into your home. The air source heat pumps are able to extract heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as -15° C!

Air source heat pumps take up very little room but provide huge savings to your energy bills, whilst heating your whole property.
Who Can Use Air Source Heat Pumps
Air source heat pumps are cheaper than ground source heat pumps and will work even if you have little or no
garden. If you ask us for an air source pump, we’ll consider your answers to the following questions.

-
How efficient are air source heat pumps?Air source heat pumps are very efficient, transferring around 3 times more energy as heat into your home than what is used to extract from the outside. Cost savings depends on how well insulated your home is, but on average, you can save around £500 per year compared to a gas boiler. You may be entitled to receive government funding for the upfront costs through the Boiler Upgrade scheme. Find out more about the scheme here.
-
Do air source heat pumps work in winter?Yes absolutely! Even in the classic cold British weather, heat pumps are twice as efficient as regular boilers in heating your home.
-
Where do you put the heat pump? You’ll need a place outside your home where a unit can be fitted to a wall or placed on the ground. It will need plenty of space around it to get a good flow of air. A sunny wall is ideal. Our team will review the area and give you an expert opinion before you make any decisions.
-
How noisy are air source heat pumps?Air source heat pumps are usually quieter than regular boilers. Because they are placed outside, it’s unlikely you’ll be disturbed by them.
-
What type of heating system will you use?Air source heat pumps can perform better with underfloor heating systems or warm air heating than with radiator-based systems because of the lower water temperatures required.
